Cousins

This past weekend Justin's brother Jay and his daughter Kayla came to visit. It was the second time this year we got  to see Kayla, but the first time since our wedding (four years ago!) that Jay had visited. It was a short trip, but we got to catch up and it was nice.

Olivia is a little bigger now than she was when Kayla visited in July, so Kayla was able to hold Olivia. It was so cute!

Olivia: 20 weeks!

MONTH: 5
WEEK: 20
WEIGHT: 15lbs +
LENGTH: 25in +
HEAD: 42cm +
MILESTONES: Olivia has been working hard on sitting up. She can even sit up by herself for a a few seconds. She looks sort of like a gorilla though because she leans forward and holds her torso up with her hands.
OBLIGATORY ADORABLE PICTURE: Taken yesterday at exactly 20 weeks! She has officially been an outside baby half as long has she was inside.
EATING: I swear this kid is a foodie. She is still exclusively breastfed, but she is constantly trying to take food from my hand or off my plate. Last week she has almost got a piece lettuce from my caesar salad in her mouth. Just yesterday her first food was almost mint ice cream from my ice cream cone. Had she not been sucking on a paci it would have been. I think it's going to be tough to hold out for another 6 weeks to offer her whole foods.
VISITS/OUTINGS: Yesterday we had a visit my friend Christina and her two girls.
FAVORITE ACTIVITIES: Rolling anywhere and everywhere. She is a rolling machine.
MOMMY FEELS: Tired. I am always tired with these two firecrackers.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FORWARD TO:  Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas are coming!

Merry Christmas, Darling.

This is Avery's first Christmas. It's the first of many years to come of seeing Grandma and Grandpa Nunley on Christmas Eve, then having Christmas morning at home and Christmas afternoon at Great Grandma and Great Grandpa Gasner's house, then another Christmas at home with Grandma and Grandpa Mitchell.

I could write a novel about all that we've done in the last couple of days, but instead I will chronicle it in a series of photos.

20 Weeks!

MONTH: 5
WEEK: 20
WEIGHT: Likely close to 15lbs by now.
LENGTH: 27+ inches
HEAD: Spotted. We don't measure he head regularly but it is still covered in scabbed pocks. Hopefully they will clear up soon.
MILESTONES: She is rolling from back to belly now! Well, sometimes. Really only when there is something she can see better if she rolls. It took a few days after she first did it for Justin and Courtney for me to see it. We are on our way to full mobility!
OBLIGATORY ADORABLE PICTURE: She has started this new thing where she tightens all the muscles in her legs and squeezes her little thighs together. She is especially fond of doing this while you are trying to change her diaper.
EATING: She is losing interest in the bottle. In fact, she likes to play a game where she just moves the nipple around in her mouth until you play with her. I think she will be a food-thrower when we start table food. Good thing we have hardwoods. Carpet would be a pain to keep clean!
SLEEPING: A had a couple of nights where she woke up to eat this last weekend, but then went back to STTN (sleeping through the night) Sunday night. Perfect timing since we both had to work Monday. So much for sleeping in.
VISITS/OUTINGS: Avery hung out with Grandma Denise and Grandpa Jim on Saturday while Justin and went Christmas shopping. It was fun to hang out just us two knowing she was having fun with grandma and grandpa. When we got home she was out like a light. They tired her out!
FAVORITE ACTIVITIES: She is still happy just to play with her feet. She even tries to sit up out of her swing to reach them. Good thing she is buckled in or she would be on the floor!
MOMMY FEELS: Great. I am so happy with where we are right now. I am loving our little family and just enjoying the days as they come. Every day is an adventure and one I wouldn't change for the world.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FORWARD TO: Exciting new opportunities to come in the new year. With Justin's job, and some exciting prospects we have a few changes in the works. Be on the lookout!
