Growth Spurt!

Last night I was looking at myself in the mirror. I felt like might have had a growth spurt, so I took a picture and voila! Here's what I saw.

Makayla's baby shower!

Today was Makayla's baby shower. It was so fun to see her and other people I haven't seen in a long time!

33 weeks 4 days

How far along? 33 weeks 4 days!
Weight gain/loss: Still up 10. We'll see after my appointment on Tuesday. With this new low fat/no dairy diet for my gallbladder I have a feeling it's going to be a little bit harder to put on weight.
Maternity clothes? Oh yea. My wardrobe consists of yoga pants and stretchy tanks form Old Navy that I bought in 6 different colors!
Stretch marks? I've started ignoring them... maybe they'll just go away.
Sleep? Eludes me most nights.
Best moment this week? The shower my co-workers threw for me on Wednesday!
Movement: All day, every day!
Food cravings: Nothing much really. I do crave fatty foods, but that's because they're off limits with my gallbladder issues.
Gender: Girl
Labor signs? Not yet!
Belly button in or out? Still half in half out... well, mostly out I guess.
What I miss? Laying on my stomach.
What I am looking forward to? Finishing the nursery!
Weekly wisdom: Enjoy every moment!
Milestones: I officially don't need to have my gallbladder removed before she is born! Hurray!

Work Shower!

On Wednesday my co-workers threw a shower for 3 of us at work. Two other girls are getting married in August & September and then I am due August 9th. it was so much fun to take a long (catered!) lunch and just have some girl time. I got lots of gifts from everyone and just enjoyed celebrating the upcoming arrival of our little girl.

How far along? 32 weeks 5 days!
Weight gain/loss: After my appointment last week I am still up 10.
Maternity clothes? I have some that are getting too tight!
Stretch marks? Oh yea.
Sleep? Eludes me most nights.
Best moment this week? Sleeping in on Saturday morning. Once Justin got out of bed to go to work I moved the middle and was able to sleep a full hour straight through!
Movement: She's a kung fu fighter in there!
Food cravings: Nothing really.
Gender: Girl
Labor signs? No!
Belly button in or out? Mostly out now. You can even see it through some shirts.
What I miss? Laying on my stomach.
What I am looking forward to? Our last ultrasound at 36 weeks!
Weekly wisdom: get as much rest as possible!
Milestones: She's officially head down. We're making progress!

Nursery Progress!

Once we bought the crib and set it up we sort of closed the door on the nursery and hadn't looked at it except to put things in there to some day be set up. Well last weekend we finally got started on putting it together.

Here's how it's coming along:


We decided to use a dresser we already had instead of buying a new one because we couldn't find one we liked enough to go with her crib. This one matches, plus it was free!

Here's her crib with clean sheets! I still need to tie the bumper back on, but here's an idea of what it will look like.
And here's the organizers on the back of her door. It's full of blankets and towels that are all freshly washed. It took me 4 loads to do what's in these organizers!

30 Weeks 4 Days

How far along? 30 weeks 4 days!
Weight gain/loss: As of my last appointment last week I am up 10lbs. Not too shabby.
Maternity clothes? All day, every day.
Stretch marks? The only place that's escaped the wrath of the evil stretch mark is my belly... go figure.
Sleep? Has been easier the last few weeks actually.
Best moment this week? Sunday I got a prenatal massage. The spa had a pregnancy pillow attachment for the bed and I was able to lay on my stomach because it had a cutout for my belly. It was fantastic!
Movement: I swear I felt her completely flip from transverse to head-down. It was the weirdest feeling, not like the normal movement and now I am feeling her move in different places than before. I guess we'll find out if that's really what it was at my next appointment.
Food cravings: Still nothing consistently, but when I do want something... I want it NOW.
Gender: Girl
Labor signs? Nope!
Belly button in or out? Half in, half out. Sometimes I can see the top part through tighter shirts, but mostly it's still in tact.
What I miss? Laying on my stomach.
What I am looking forward to? Finishing the nursery! We NEED to find a dresser!
Weekly wisdom: Enjoy everything, even the nausea and dizziness and cankles.
Milestones: 30 weeks! There are only single digit weeks left!

Baby Shower Time!

Sunday was my baby shower. Justin's sister Stacy, his mom Denise and my friend Holli all threw it at Denise's house.

It was laid back and exactly how I wanted it. They even had it catered by my favorite Mexican restaurant, Villa Corona.

We got TONS of clothes and things we will need. One of my favorite gifts was from Justin's aunts Nancy & Chris. They prepaid for us to have THREE photo sessions for newborn pictures with a great photographer in Napa, Christophe Genty. It was so thoughtful. I can't wait to get them taken!

28 weeks 5 days!

How far along? 28 weeks 5 days!
Weight gain/loss: Last I checked I was up 5lbs from pre-pregnancy ... yes, that's my story and I'm sticking to it.
Maternity clothes? I've officially outgrown almost all my normal clothes.
Stretch marks? I plead the 5th.
Sleep? It comes and goes. This week has been a good sleep week, but somehow I am still exhausted at the end of the day.
Best moment this week? My baby shower is tomorrow!
Movement: Is becoming more fluid than jolting and feels like she is doing the wave!
Food cravings: Nothing really yet.
Gender: Girl
Labor signs? NO!
Belly button in or out? I think it's still pretty much in, but Justin asked me where my belly button had gone the other day, so I guess it's a little flatter than I thought!
What I miss? Lay on my stomach.
What I am looking forward to? Our trip to Tahoe next weekend! I need a vacation!
Weekly wisdom: Not everything is always rainbows and butterflies -- and that's ok.
Milestones: we made it to the 3rd trimester!

Pass the Depends

Here's a belly picture from yesterday (26 weeks 4 days) and a funny story.

Yesterday I was worried all day because Avery wasn't moving around much. Normally she is really active and I can see her kicking almost all day long. Well it got to lunch time and I was having a nervous breakdown. I even called the doctor and he told me to eat a meal, and then lay down for an hour. So I did. during that hour I felt a few little flutters, but nothing like normal so when I got home I used the doppler to find the heartbeat.

Right away it registered at 145! She even gave the doppler a few small kicks, so even though it wasn't her normal routine, I chalked it up to her having a lazy day. I mean, hey we all have those.

Apparently this morning she decided she wanted to show me her kicking skills and while I was laying in bed gave me some good swift kicks... right to the bladder. I literally almost peed the bed.

Who would have thought I would be so excited about having to pee?! I'm just glad to know everything is okay in there.

Keep them coming little girl!

25 weekss 4 days!

Finally! A belly picture with a head! I managed to convince Justin to take a picture of me so here's what I actually look like rather than just my belly.

How far along? 25 weeks 4 days!
Weight gain/loss: Last I checked I was up 5lbs from pre-pregnancy ... yes, that's my story and I'm sticking to it.
Maternity clothes? I've officially outgrown almost all my normal clothes.

Best moment this week? Nothing exciting this week, but last week was putting her crib together!

Labor signs? NO!
Belly button in or out? Still an innie... although Justin would like to contest that. I told him the only outtie I want is an (Audi) A4. Although, I secretly can't wait for my belly button to pop because it will make my stomach no look like I laid on it -- right now it looks flat instead of round.
What I miss? my boobs not touching my stomach.
What I am looking forward to? Our Babymoon! We're going to South Lake Tahoe for Memorial Day weekend. I can't wait for a nice relaxing few days with Justin.
Weekly wisdom: Focus, focus, focus.
Milestones: Cleaned out (almost) all non-baby items from her room.

Now we're getting somewhere!

Yesterday Justin & I went to Sacramento to pick up the crib. We had planned on putting it together today, but once we got it home, we couldn't stand the wait! We started putting it together around 10:45 last night and surprisingly we were done around 11:15! It was way easier than I thought.

We also cleaned out the desk that was in her room. This morning Justin and his dad moved it to Justin's parent's house for storage. Now the only things in her room are her things!

So much progress in so little time!

The last two weeks have been such a blur!

First we Went to Goore's in Sacramento to look at furniture and bedding. We finally decided on a bedding set by CoCaLo. We wanted something that was not the traditional pink flowers and caught our attention. I love it!
While we were there we found a crib we really liked (and both agreed on!). Then last Friday when we ordered it. We decided on the Munire Essex in White. On their website said it could be 6-10 weeks for it to arrive. I called to see if they could give me a little bit more specific time frame. The sales rep looked to see if their distributor had it in stock. They did! She said it would be 2 weeks, but to call next week to double check. Then I called back on Tuesday to see if it would indeed arrive in 2 weeks. She told me it would actually be in this Friday! So we are going on Saturday to pick it up!Then came probably one of my favorite moments since being pregnant.

Justin finally got to feel her kick! I have been feeling kicks from the inside since 16 weeks and could recognize them on the outside for the last 3 weeks or so, but every time I tell Justin to feel, she always stops moving!

Finally the other night I was laying in bed watching tv when she was having her nightly rave. I got him to come into the room and as soon as he put his hand on my belly she kicked him. He just looked at me and his eyes lit up. He said, "That was it! She loves me too!" It was amazing. I almost cried.

We've made so much progress and I can't wait to see what more we have in store!

23 weeks 1day

How far along? 23 weeks 1 day!
Weight gain/loss: Up 5lbs from pre-pregnancy
Maternity clothes? All day, every day
Stretch marks? We won’t even go there.
Sleep? I’ll take it when I can get it.
Best moment this week? Picking out her bedding!
Movement: Oh yea!
Food cravings: None really consistently.
Gender: Girl
Labor signs? NO!
Belly button in or out? Still an innie... for now.
What I miss? Being able to lay on my stomach.
What I am looking forward to? Ordering her crib and deciding on a dresser.
Weekly wisdom: breathe.
Milestones: Finally gaining weight (who would’ve thought that’d be a plus!)

How far along? 20 weeks 5 days
Weight gain/loss: I haven't been weighed at the doctor but according to my home scale I am up 2 or 3lbs, depending on when I weigh.
Maternity clothes? All the way!
Stretch marks? Yep. I'm saving for removal once we're done having kids!
Sleep? It's ok. I sleep when I can.
Best moment this week? Finding out we're having a girl!
Movement: All the time! Especially after sweets!
Food cravings: No cravings as of recently.
Gender: Baby girl!
Labor signs? NO!
Belly button in or out? Still an innie... for now.
What I miss? The ease of putting on socks. I can still do it, but it takes some effort.
What I am looking forward to? Picking out a crib!

Can I get a drumroll, please?

We went to the Perinatologist office today for our BIG ULTRASOUND today.

After 77 pictures and 45 glorious minutes of watching out little one on the big screen we are so excited to announce that we will be welcoming a beautiful baby girl in August!

Everything they measured looked great. She has 10 fingers and 10 toes, 4 chambers in her heart, and a "gorgeous" brain (according to the doctor).

We have about a gazillion pictures, and I will scan some more when I get to work tomorrow.

19 weeks 5 days!

Hair Color: Light brown, I'd really like to dye it but I've heard you're supposed to stay away from hair dye, so I will wait... probably.

Finding Out:
What day did you find out? December 2nd @ 4 weeks 2 days
How did you feel when you found out? Excited: I couldn't sleep the whole night before knowing I was going to take the test in the morning. Shocked: Because I didn't think there was going to be a good shot that month. Petrified: I wanted to hold my little baby so badly and I was afraid of everything.
Who was the first person you told? Justin, of course. He was sleeping (it was like 6am) and I ran in, flicked on the light and shoved the test in his face.
How did they react? Once his eyes adjusted to the light he just grinned at me. He was happy, but I'm not sure I have him enough time to fully comprehend what I had just told him.


Telling the Parents and Grandparents:
How did your parents react? They cried.
How did his parents react? So excited! We told them on Christmas eve, and his mom showed the ultrasound picture to everyone who came over!
Are they helping with baby names? Not really. They are really good about not putting their opinions in unless asked.
Have they bought anything for the baby yet? I've seen a few things here and there, but I am afraid of what will happen when we find out for sure the sex!
How often do they call and check on you? Since Justin's parent's live in town we see them once a week at least.

Are you allowing everyone in the room? It will be Justin and me and maybe Amanda if she can make it in time!
Medications or Natural? Probably medicated because I am a big baby!

Will you cry when you hold your baby for the first time? Absolutely. I am so emotional, especially now!
